Letters to the Editor, 7-17-13 edition

Dear Editor,
I re Editor,
Over the past few months, our noon and evening news shows have been full of “scandals” linked to government agencies and the White House.
There was Benghazi where it was confirmed that our Ambassador and a small support group told the State Department that they were concerned about their safety and requested on at least three occasions for more assistance. Then the compound came under siege and they were killed. BOTH President Obama and Sec. of State Clinton vowed to the families that the perpetrators would be swiftly found and held accountable. That was nearly a year ago now and we’ve recently heard little from anyone as to where this stands. Secretary Clinton testified before congress. When she was asked about her knowledge of what happened and why, she responded “what difference does it make,” she was under oath to answer questions the Committee members had. Truth be known, she knew then and still does today, but will never tell the story because it rests too close to her not making the right decision on what to do.
Then we found out the White House and Campaign Committee were using the IRS to more or less blackmail folks who had opposing philosophies to the Campaign. The main administrator involved told a congressional committee that she had done nothing wrong and would not testify or answer any questions. She was asked to resign by superiors and refused that as well, was placed on administrative leave with full benefits until it is resolved. In most private businesses she’d be offered the resignation and if she refused she’d be fired. So I ask, what are we waiting for?
Next item was that Mr. Holder, our Attorney General, testified to a congressional committee that he had no knowledge of Dept. of Justice spying on a number of journalists who were reporting on things the government was doing that may be illegal. Holder told the committee under oath he was unaware of such activity, would not use the tactic himself in that situation. A couple of days later, it was confirmed Holder had signed to paperwork responsible for allowing the tactic to go forward prior to his testimony to the contrary! Holder has not been held accountable for his contempt of congress (lying to a congressional panel).
Next we found out that the National Security Admin. was secretly compiling tons of personal and private information on each and every one of us – which is illegal for any governmental agency without going through a complete legal request through the FISA! None of which was being done in this case.
The IRS is hiring 16,000 new agents to enforce the Affordable Healthcare Plan (Obamacare), which will put them in a position to gather all kinds of personal private health information on any of us. That should be scary to anyone reading this.
Our founding fathers designed our Constitution and Bill of Rights to protect the citizens of this Great Country from the types of surveillance discussed in this letter. The reason it was set up that way is because most of the writers had fled countries with exactly those threats hanging over them.
We need to be told who is responsible for each of the mentioned items and they need to be held responsible and handled accordingly as soon as possible. Can’t let them sweep it all under the rug as it seems they are trying to do.
We ALL need to remember Candidate Barack Obama while campaigning back in 2007 told us a number of times his goal as President if elected was to “FUNDAMENTALLY TRANSFORM” this country!! Folks, he’s doing exactly what he told us he was going to do. If a socialist country is what we want, just sit tight as it is on the way as we speak! If you were brought up and taught socialism/communistic ideas are not good ways to go.
Thanks for your time.
Respectfully,
Chuck Bolder

Dear Editor,
I want to say thank you to everyone that helped me after I fell and broke my shoulder on May 9.
First of all, I want to thank Bill Montabon, who was just checking his land. Bill found me and helped me to the house. I apologize if this is not your last name. I could only remember Bill, as that is my husband’s name. It was a pleasant sound hearing your tires on the gravel coming down the road.
Thanks to my husband Bill who took me to emegency and caring for me after hospital stay. To my daughter Correna (a nurse) who came from Platteville before and during surgery.
Thank you to Dr. Kenneth Sullivan and staff in emergency at Ministry Good Sam in Merrill. Thank you to Dr. Douglas J. Keele and staff at Bone & Joint who did the surgery at Aspirus Hospital. Thanks to Skylar Lynn at Physical Therapy in Merrill for his encouragement in getting my shoulder to work again. He needs to learn to count faster though.
Thank you to Stonecraft Bible Study Ladies who brought prepared meals and put in our freezer. To Grace Lutheran Church Tomahawk who also brought meals through Mealtrain.com. Thank you to Pastor Karla and Pastor Mark for their visits and encouraging words. Thanks to all at Grace Lutheran in Tomahawk for their prayers.
Thanks to Patty Wendorf, Helen Springer and Marcia Henke for giving me rides to therapy. To Marcia for doing so many things for me. Thank you to Myrna Linnell for coming out, bringing subs and doing weeding in flower beds. Marcia Henke and Mary Brown for entertaining me and playing Scrabble and letting me win! Thanks to all for phone calls, emails and cards.
God’s blessings.
