Merrill City Band ?Three Ring Circus?

The Merrill City Band kicks off the concert season in the gazebo at Normal Park tonight at 7:30 p.m. with a celebration of the circus. In the event of inclement weather, this concert will be rescheduled for July 10.
Tonight’s event will include pre-concert entertainment and concessions will be available. The Lions Club is selling hamburgers, cheeseburgers, hotdogs, potato chips, soda, and water beginning at 5:30 p.m. HAVEN will be selling lemonade and fill the park with the smell of their tasty popcorn. Ringmaster Ron Behm, juggler John Kilgust, and the Wurlitzer Band Organ of Dick Lokemoen will be featured throughout the night. The kids can enjoy face painting, balloons, a stuffed animal parade (bring your favorite one), and a “tightrope contest.” The band encourages you to get in the spirit of things and join them in dressing up in circus attire for the evening.
Some great old-fashioned circus marches, along with other selections including “Lassus Trombone,” “Baby Elephant Walk,” and the clarinet feature “The Pie In The Face” polka will put you in a festival mood.
Next Wednesday, July 3, the band will present “Yankee Doodle Dandy,” a celebration of America through music. On July 4, enjoy the sounds of the band at the Tomahawk Pow Wow Days parade at 1 p.m.
Each concert will have a 50/50 raffle and gift certificates from local businesses will be given away. The public is invited to bring lawn chairs or blankets to enjoy the sounds of the city band. And why wait til 7:30? Get there early, bring a picnic supper (or buy a supper from local organizations at the park when available), and treat yourself to a little camaraderie in the park before the music begins.
