Jesperson promotes North
MHS recent graduate David Jesperson, a First Team All-State selection from D2, proved he deserved that designation when he put up 16 points and 10 rebounds to help the North squad thump the South 107-86 in the Wisconsin Basketball Coaches Ass’n. all-star game.
The event-with competition in all five divisions-was held in the Wis. Dells last weekend.
“It was a lot of fun,” Jesperson, a 6′ 9″ swing player, said. “I thought I played pretty well. We had a pretty good team. We played better than most teams do, because you are only together for a week.”
Jesperson worked with Onalaska’s Matt Thomas, a unanimous First Team A-S pick and Iowa State recruit. Thomas offered a squad-high 22 points to go with 9 rebounds and 5 assists.
“We’ve played together on the AAU Playmakers,” David said of the team coached by his brother Jason. “He had a really good game. We have a good relationship.”
This event wrapped up David’s prep career.
“It was my last high school event, but it hasn’t really sunk in yet that I’m done with everything, now,” he said.
David is ready to embark on his next adventure. He travels to Peperdine, in Malibu, Calif., for a June 30 beginning to college ball.
“I’m excited to get out there,” he said. “It will be an advantage (playing there most of the summer).
“(Potential playing time is) really up in the air. You really have to prove yourself in practice.”
