Dale Albert Jensen

Dale Albert Jensen, 78, 1101 Harrison Street, Merrill, died Saturday, June 1, 2013, under the care of Comfort Care and Hospice Services at Pine Crest nursing home.

Dale was born Aug. 14, 1934, in the town of Ackley, the son of Clarence and Vera (Bellin) Jensen. A graduate of Merrill High School, he served in the United States Navy from 1954 to 1958. While serving aboard the USS Edisto (agb-2) he was part of operation “Deep Freeze”, an exploration of the Antarctic. Dale married Eva “Evie” Lynn Sparks on September 16, 1961, in Merrill. The two lived in Milwaukee while Dale completed his Mechanical Engineering degree at the Milwaukee School of Engineering. Dale and Evie moved from Milwaukee to Green Bay in 1967 and spent the next 31 years there. Dale was employed at Wisconsin Public Service Corporation – Pulliam Power Plant. They moved to Wausau in 1998 to be closer to family.
Survivors include his sons Russ (Keely) Jensen, De Pere, and Chris (Sue) Jensen, Mosinee; grandson Nate Jensen, Mosinee; grandchildren Sara Marks, Melissa Jensen, and Kyle Marks, De Pere; sister Joan Hansen, Tomah; brothers Layne (Judy) Jensen, Merrill, Jon (Pin) Jensen, Raleigh NC, Brian (Linda) Jensen, West Bend, and Barry (Jane) Jensen, Wausau; special friend Nancy Hayes, Merrill. Dale was preceded in death by his mother, father, and wife Evie.
Memorial services will be held on Wednesday June 12th at Waid funeral home, Merrill. Pastor Missy Holdorf will officiate. Visitation will be from 2:30pm until the service at 4:00pm. A dinner and gathering will be held following the service.
Dales’ family deeply thanks the Pine Crest Nursing Home staff for their personal care during his final days.
