Ruth E. Petzka, age 95, of Merrill, died Saturday, June 1, 2013 at Woodland Court Elder Services, Merrill.
Ruth was born March 14, 1918, in Sturgeon Bay, WI, daughter of the late Rudolph and Ella (Polkow) Berg. She married Rudolph Petzka on June 10, 1944, in Merrill. He preceded her in death on April 14, 1985.
Ruth was a member of St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill, where she was involved with the Altar Guild. Ruth belonged to various local clubs. She enjoyed gardening, canning, sewing, and playing cards with her friends.
Survivors include her two daughters, Sharon (Robert) Bergantino, of Butte, MT, and Joyce Petzka, of Raleigh, NC; one grandson, Antony Bergantino, of Laramie, WY; one brother, Ralph (Dorothy) Berg, of Sturgeon Bay; and her caregiver, Beth Pergolski, of Merrill. Ruth was preceded in death by her husband, Rudolph Petzka; her parents, Rudolph and Ella Berg; and an infant sister, Dorothy Berg.
The funeral service will be at 11 a.m. Wednesday, June 5, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. The Rev. Nathan Kramer will officiate. Burial will take place at St. Francis Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 10 a.m. Wednesday at the funeral home.
