Donald W. Anderson, age 82, of Merrill, died Sunday, June 2, 2013, at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Don was born Dec. 5, 1930, in Merrill, son of the late Nailus and Martha (Genz) Anderson. He married Shirley Zimmermann on July 12, 1952, and she survives.
Don was a retired employee of Merrill Manufacturing. He was an active member of St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill, and was a recipient of their “Faith Award.” Don enjoyed polka dancing with his wife, and riding his Harley motorcycle years ago. Don served in the U.S. Marine Corp in the early 1950’s and was stationed in California.
Survivors include his wife, Shirley Anderson, Merrill; two daughters, Linda Taylor (with Dave Miller) of Merrill, and Debi Fehr (with Dan Lemon) also of Merrill; four sons, Jeff (wife, Sheila) Anderson, Bruce (wife, Lorie) Anderson, Steven Anderson (with Cathy Gantner), and Jerry (wife, Barb) Anderson, all of Merrill; 12 grandchildren, Matt Taylor, Alex Fehr, Kyle and Rachel Ames, Brittney, Brad, and Ben Anderson, Samantha (husband, Dustin) Brown, Nick, Courtney, Jennifer, and Mitchell Anderson; one great grandchild, Jaxson; one sister, Emogene (Leroy) Rhyner, Wausau; and one brother, Eugene (Delores) Anderson, Wausau. Don was preceded in death by one son, Dale “Beatle” Anderson; and one grandson, Lucas Anderson.
The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Thursday, June 6, at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. Pastor Missy Holdorf will officiate. Burial will be in Snow Hill Cemetery, Town of Scott. Visitation will begin at 9 a.m. Thursday at the church.
