An 86-year-old Merrill man injured in a May 26 motorcycle accident on Hwy. 51 died Thursday at Aspirus Wausau Hospital from injuries sustained in that crash.
According to Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office reports, Leonard Benson was operating a motorcycle on Hwy. 51 in the town of Rock Falls when he lost control of the vehicle and subsequently crashed.
Merrill Fire Department ambulance and a Medivac helicopter from Wausau Aspirus Hospital responded to the scene. Benson was transported to Aspirus Hospital via helicopter with unknown injuries.
He was wearing a helmet.
This is the first fatal crash on Lincoln County roadways in 2013.
