Golfers runners-up

The Hatchet golfers put it together in time for their final GNC Meet, held Friday at Inshalla, as Tomahawk made a push for third overall with a second-place finish. They fell just five strokes back of winner Antigo.
“It was our best round of the season and I think the first time we had our full line-up due to some guys being ineligible,” THS coach Garth Gerstenberger said. “I was really happy for Turner (Wegener). He worked really hard on his game in the off-season. I felt badly for him, and all our seniors. They didn’t have the number of meets they would have liked.”
Wegener shot a 41-42-83 to lock up a tie for third overall and a First Team GNC honor. Tanner Laack (43-46-89) was an HM selection, and Chad O’Brien (47-43-90), and Nick Osero (47-48-95) capped the scoring. Dan Geraty (54-55-109) competed.
Team standings (meet score, final place, final points)-Antigo 352, 1st, 27, N. Pines 365, 2nd, 23, Lakeland 368, 3rd, 20, Tomahawk 357, 4th, 18, Rhinelander 388, 5th, 10, Medford 397, 6th, 8, Mosinee 411, 7th, 6.
