Sheriff?s office seeks absconder

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office is joining with the Wisconsin Department of Corrections in seeking a Merrill man who absconded from electronic monitoring.

Christopher D. Meindel, age 36, who is already a convicted felon for drug offenses, was released on a signature bond from Lincoln County Court after he was charged with: Possess Drug Paraphernalia to Manufacture, Compound, Convert, Produce, or Store Methamphetamine; Knowingly Possess Methamphetamine Waste; Store Ammonia in Illegal Container; and Manuf/Deliver Amphetamine(<=3g).
Meindel was living at a probation/parole housing unit on East Main Street in Merrill while awaiting further court appearances.
On Tuesday May 14, Meindel reported to his probation agent for a regular meeting. When he was requested to take a urine test to check for the presence of drugs, Meindel refused and fled the office.
A warrant has been issued for Meindel’s arrest for violating terms of his probation and deputies are seeking a warrant charging Meindel with a felony count of bail jumping.
Meindel was traveling to the Baraboo area for work and may have fled there; he also may have cut off his electronic monitoring bracelet that was applied by DOC.
If you have any information on the whereabouts of Christoper D. Meindel, you are asked to call the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office at 715-536-6272. Callers may also call Crime Stoppers at 715-536-3726. Callers to Crime Stoppers can remain anonymous and may qualify for a cash reward.
