Schulz?s Recycling expands to Wausau

Schulz’s Recycling of Merrill has expanded to the Wausau market while strengthening their hometown business.
Schulz’s opened their Wausau location in March at 1000 McDonald St., the former Fed Ex building. The Wausau site serves as a feeder yard for the Merrill operation, explained co-owner Jeff Isroff. Schulz’s buys recyclable materials from customers in Wausau and then transfers them to the Merrill location for processing. The Wausau location has created jobs both in Wausau and in Merrill.
“Business is picking up,” Isroff said. “Every week has been better than the week before. The community seems to be very happy with us. Our prices are competitive, the service is fast and friendly and the location is very convenient for people. We’re the only recycling operation in the city of Wausau.”
Schulz’s saw a need for more recycling operations to serve the Wausau community.
“We felt that we could bring something that the public would want and support,” Isroff said.
The former Fed Ex building turned out to be a perfect fit for their operation, with ample garage doors and hard surface.
“It was just ideal,” Isroff said. “It allows us to have a nice, clean and efficient operation.”
Schulz’s Recycling plans to be a good corporate citizen in Wausau as they have been in Merrill.
“Our company has a good reputation in the community,” Isroff said. “We’ve done a lot of business in Wausau and we felt that our good reputation in Merrill could follow us into the city of Wausau. People will find out that we like to be a part of the community.”
Schulz’s Recycling was started in Merrill in 1958 by Roy Schulz as an auto wrecking facility. Over the year, the business transitioned into scrap metal recycling. The company is now owned by Roy’s sons, Steve and Dan Schulz, along with Isroff.
