Nondus “Betty” Krueger, age 90, of Merrill, passed away Wednesday, May 1, 2013 at Pine Crest Nursing Home under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services.
She was born October 20, 1922 in Medford to the late Marvin & Betsy (Smith) Bragg. She married Gilbert Krueger on December 8, 1945. He preceded her in death January 31, 1983.
Betty was a 1941 graduate of Athens High School. After moving to Merrill with her husband, they became involved in many local businesses including Krueger’s Kiddie Korner and Golden Arrow Bowling Lanes. Betty later worked many years for the optometrist, Dr. Luedke and later Lokemoen Optical until her retirement. She was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church where she was involved in many activities. Betty had a passion for transcribing braille for the blind and teaching others that craft. She also served for many years on the Board of Directors for Jenny Towers.
Survivors include her children: Larry (Barb) Krueger, Manitowoc, WI, and Debra (Lex) McPherson, Stuttgart, AR; 11 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and several great-great-grandchildren. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Gilbert, and numerous other relatives.
Funeral Services will be held 11 AM Monday, May 6, 2013 at Trinity Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. Brian Stolarczyk will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 AM until the time of service at the church. Burial will follow in Maple Grove Cemetery. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
