Mable H. Wengeler, age 93, of Merrill, passed away Saturday, April 27, 2013, at Bell Tower Residence, under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care and Hospice.
Mable was born June 5, 1919, in the town of Maine, the daughter of the late Edward and Ida (Jahns) Rusch. She married Herbert E. Wengeler on November 12, 1938 in Merrill. He preceded her in death on April 19, 1983.
Mable farmed with her husband in the town of Pine River and also worked at Weinbrenner Shoe Company, Merrill. She was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ. Mable had helped at the Commission on Aging, and enjoyed playing cards, traveling and knitting.
She is survived by her son, David Wengeler of Inver Grove Heights, MN, a sister, Leona Schmidt of Merrill, 6 grandchildren and 7 great-grandchildren. Mable was preceded in death by her parents, her husband, a daughter, Susan Wangen, 3 sisters: Hertha Weiss, Lillie Sturm and Norma Strasser and a brother, Hugo Rusch.
Funeral services for Mable will be held 11:00 AM Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ. The Rev. Linda Kuhn will officiate. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park. Visitation will be from 9AM to 11AM, Tuesday, April 30, 2013 at the Church.
