Sci Fi-themed board games at T.B. Scott Library

On Saturday afternoon, April 20, from noon to 4 p.m., experience a Science Fiction-Star Trek-Star Wars-Intergalactic Gaming Event. Play board games in the Community Room at Merrill’s T.B. Scott Library. A wide variety of games will be available to experience and learn.
With these board games, you get a completely computer-free experience that everyone can enjoy.
Star Trek: Catan takes two well-known media properties and merges them into the popular Settlers of Catan game, glossed with Trek topics and spiced with new special powers related to Trek personalities.
Eminent Domain: Survey the galaxy to expand your civilization – your fate determined by your skill and a deck of cards. Will you colonize nearby planets or take them by force? Your opponents will also take on a role to execute. Build the best civilization and win the game.
Star Wars: X-Wing Miniatures Game is a tactical ship-to-ship combat game in a fast-paced space combat. Stunningly detailed and painted vessels feature unique speed and maneuvers of each pilot. After planning maneuvers, you’re in total control during tense dog-fighting action.
Star Fluxx: is science fiction! You may be swayed by unseen forces, held hostage by evil computers, or find aliens aboard your ship depending on how the cards fall.
No experience is needed to have fun on Saturday. Each game will have an experienced player to give a short demo, after which players will break into groups to play different board games. Other games will be displayed, so just come for a short visit or for the duration.
All ages are welcome to attend, and games for all ages, including family games, will be ready to play. If you’re under 10 years old, please bring an adult.
You can win too just for coming. Star Flux games and free gift certificates for game purchases will be given away; thanks to the event’s co-sponsors, Central Wisconsin Gaming Enthusiasts and T.B. Scott Free Library. While costumes are optional, wearing one will earn you an additional entry into prize drawings.
Saturday’s program is part of the library’s “Game On!” series, in cooperation with the Central Wisconsin Gaming Enthusiasts (CWGE). Refreshments will be provided courtesy of First Street Coffee Station and the Checkered Churn.
