Donald L. Rohde, age 76, of Merrill, died Sunday, March 31, 2013 at his home. He was born August 31, 1936 in Merrill to the late Roy & Ruth (Woller) Rohde. He and Donnamae Henrichs were united in marriage on January 14, 1956 in Merrill. She preceded him in death January 9, 2007.
Don was a 1955 graduate of Merrill Senior High School. He then joined the U.S. Navy where he served in the Vietnam War. Don was honorably discharged after 20 years of service with the rank of HTC. He then became an instructor in welding at NTC in Antigo and Wausau. Don was a welding certifier for the State of Wisconsin, retiring in 1996. He was a member of VFW Post 163 in Merrill and was a member of the Merrill Moose Lodge.
Survivors include his daughter: Lisa (David) Ruge, Madison; three sons: Scott Rohde, Louisville, KY; Jason (Tammi) Rohde and Donald (Nicole) Rohde, both of Merrill; seven grandchildren: Kyle Ruge, Amber (Tim) Mulrooney, Cassie Rohde, Brock Rohde, Amanda Ruge, Cana Rohde & Faith Rohde; two great-granddaughters: Irelyn Mulrooney & Addilyn Mulrooney; three half-sisters and one half-brother. He was preceded in death by his parents and his wife, Donnamae.
Funeral services will be held 11:00 AM Thursday, April 4, 2013 at Waid Funeral Home. The Rev. Robert Smallman will officiate. Visitation will be from 4-8 PM Wednesday, April 3, 2013 and again from 10-11 AM Thursday, April 4, 2013 all at Waid Funeral Home. Burial will be in Merrill Memorial Park.
