Virginia H. Paradise

Virginia H. Paradise, age 90, of Merrill, died Tuesday, January 15, 2013, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill.
Virginia was born November 29, 1922, in Lincoln, Illinois, daughter of the late Wenzel and Mathilda (Daniek) Fichtner. She married Dexter Paradise on June 28, 1947, in St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill. He preceded her in death on December 30, 2003. Virginia had been a Licensed Practical Nurse at the former Holy Cross Hospital, Merrill, for over 30 years. She was a member of St. Francis Xavier Catholic Church, Merrill. Virginia enjoyed knitting and crocheting, making candles, traveling and camping with her family, and snowmobiling. From 1943 until 1946, Virginia served in the U.S. Army Hospital Corp., and was a Surgical Technician at Fitzsimmons Hospital in Denver, Colorado.
Survivors include her daughter, Christine (Joe) Roets, Marathon; her son, Anthony (Renee) Paradise, Green Bay; two grandchildren, Danielle (Mark) Shipman, Green Lake, Wisconsin, and Gregory Roets, Roseville, Minnesota; and two step granddaughters, Mina Phillos, Richmond, Virginia, and Karina Phillos, Green Bay. Besides her husband and parents, Virginia is preceded in death by two brothers, Adolph Fichtner and Father Joseph Fichtner.
The Mass of Christian Burial will be celebrated at 12:00 P.M., Noon, Monday, January 21, 2013, in Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. Father Thomas Zelinski, O.F.M. Cap., will preside. Burial will take place in St. Francis Catholic Cemetery, Merrill. Visitation will begin at 10:00 A.M. Monday at Bell Tower Residence. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
