George Diagostine

George Diagostine, age 91, of Merrill, passed away Friday, October 5, 2012, at St. Joseph’s Hospital, Marshfield.
George was born February 8, 1921, in Gaastra, Michigan, son of the late Pasqual and Jenny (Genunzio) Diagostine. He married Jeannal Kloss on May 9, 1950. She survives. George was a retired employee of Ward Paper Company, Merrill. During World War II, George served in the U.S. Navy Air Corp. George served on the T.B. Scott Library board for 34 years; was a former member of the Lincoln County Board of Supervisors; and was an active member of the Knights of Columbus. George was an avid fan of the Green Bay Packers, and was devoted to the Chicago Cubs.
Survivors include his wife Jeannal Diagostine, Merrill; four children, Linda (Bob) Nook, Sarasota Florida, Scott (Marcia) Diagostine, Tuscon, Arizona, Dean (Ginger) Diagostine, Merrill, and Jenny (Jeff) Beyer, Merrill; nine grandchildren; one great grandson, and one brother, Jimmy Diagostino.
A Funeral Liturgy will be held at 6:00 P.M. Saturday, October 6, 2012, at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill. Father Michael McLain will preside. Burial will take place at a later date in Merrill Memorial Park Cemetery. Visitation will begin at 4:00 P.M. today at the funeral home.
In lieu of flowers, the family suggests memorials to the T.B. Scott Library, or St. Francis Xavier Catholic School.
