Structure fire in town of King

On Wednesday, Sept. 12, at 7:47 p.m. a cell 911 call reported a possible structure fire at N10186 Anglers Ave. in the Town of King.
The seasonal home owner Jeffrey R. Kroenke of Sussex, WI was the only occupant of the residence. He told a responding deputy that earlier in the day he had a fire in the fireplace but the fire had mostly gone out when he saw smoke inside of the residence. He went outside to investigate and saw smoke coming from the roof.
When the first deputy arrived on the scene a few minutes after the 911 call was placed, he found flames coming from the roof of the structure.
Besides deputies from the Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office, firefighters from the Tomahawk Fire Department responded to the scene. Additional help of manpower and tankers were requested from the Nokomis Fire Department, and the Town of Russell Fire Department moved up an engine to provide territorial support.
The fire is not considered suspicious. As of 10 p.m. firefighters were still working on the fire and expected to be on the scene for a few more hours.
