The city of Merrill Parks & Recreation Department is announcing changes to the 2012 Labor Day Parade route. Changes in the city’s State of Wisconsin permit are calling for the parade to start on Genesee Street instead of State Street, to allow normal traffic along State Street.
Staging for parade participants will still take place in the parking lot of Merrill Manufacturing, but participants are asked to enter the parade staging area from State Street and proceed to the east. This will allow the parade to line up along Genesee Street.
First Street will be closed to all traffic during this time from State Street to Center Avenue. This includes the portion from State Street to Genesee Street. East Main Street will be open to parking from Center Avenue west to South Cleveland Street.
