Elaine R. Paul

Elaine R. Paul, 81, of Hamburg, passed away Wednesday, August 1, 2012 at St. Clare’s Hospital in Weston.

She was born April 9, 1931 in the town of Berlin to the late Raymond & Leona (Plautz) Borchardt. On June 10, 1950 she married Martin Paul in the town of Berlin. He preceded her in death May 20, 2002.
In her younger years, Elaine worked for Niemann Brothers in the town of Hamburg. After her marriage to Martin, they farmed in the town of Hamburg until retiring in 1988. She was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in the town of Hamburg where she belonged to the Ladies Aid. Elaine was also a member of the Pommerscher Verein German Club where she participated in a number of traveling ventures. She enjoyed gardening, especially flower gardening, taking great pride in her gladiolas. Elaine also loved to cook and bake. Her kitchen was always open for business! Elaine was fond of embroidery, sewing and quilting and always enjoyed playing games. Most of all she enjoyed spending time with her children, grandchildren and great-grandchildren.
Survivors include her children: Pamela (Terry) Plisch, Hamburg, WI, Gary (Karen) Paul, also of Hamburg, WI; daughter-in-law: Gloria Borchardt, Merrill; four grandchildren: Krista (Andy) Zelinski, Angela (James) Servi, Andrew Plisch and Ashley Plisch; three great-grandchildren: Katelyn Zelinski, Jacob Zelinski and Joey Servi; two sisters: Marion Jehn, Wausau and Jean (Eldred) Zastrow, Hamburg, WI. She was preceded in death by her parents, husband, Martin, son, Eugene, and brother, Donald.
Services will be held 11:00 AM Monday, August 6, 2012 at St. Paul’s Lutheran Church – Hamburg. The Rev. Joel Danner will officiate. Visitation will be Sunday August 5, 2012, from 1-5 PM at Waid Funeral Home and again from 10 – 11 AM Monday at the church. Burial will be in St. Paul’s Cemetery – Hamburg. Elaine’s family requests memorials be given in her name to St. Paul’s Cemetery Association or to the Susan G. Komen Foundation. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with donations.
