Merrill man dies at Tomahawk lake

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office investigated a sudden death on Wednesday afternoon in the Town of Bradley north of Tomahawk.
At 1:15 p.m., a cell 911 call reported a man who had been pulled from the waters of Crystal Lake off of Lamer Rd. Lincoln County deputies along with Tomahawk EMS responded to the scene and transported the 42 year old Xavier M. Patton of Merrill to Ministry Sacred Heart Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
According to witnesses, Patton was in the water with his daughters when one of them started having trouble. He went to the daughter and assisted her, but then went into distress himself and went under water. The child was not injured. A 30 year old man from Peyton, CO witnessed the event and dove under water and brought Patton to shore where CPR was performed. The deputies’ report indicates the group was in water that was estimated to be 10 feet deep.
