Michael D. Zuelsdorff, age 33, formerly of Merrill, died Saturday, March 3, 2012.
Michael was born Sept. 16, 1978, in Merrill, son of Cheryl (Beyer) Henrich, Merrill, and the late Mark Zuelsdorff. Mike was a 1997 graduate of Merrill Senior High school, where he lettered in football and weightlifting, and he also played baseball. Michael then served in the U.S. Army from 1997 until his honorable discharge in 2000. Michael was currently a Sergeant First Class with the Wisconsin National Guard, 273rd Engineer Company (Sapper). In 2003 Michael and his unit were deployed to Kuwait and Iraq. Michael was very proud to be a part of the military. He was also a full time student at UW-Stevens Point, majoring in Forestry. Michael enjoyed fishing, hunting, hiking, kayaking, cross country skiing, traveling, making maple syrup with his friends every spring, and spending time with family and friends. Michael was an avid Packer, Badger, and Brewer fan.
Michael is survived by his mother, Cheryl Beyer-Henrich, Merrill; his sister, Gera Zuelsdorff, Merrill; grandparents, Phyllis Zuelsdorff, Connie (LeRoy) Fischer, and Ronald (Darlene) Beyer, all of Merrill; and several aunts, uncles, and cousins. Michael is preceded in death by his father, Mark Zuelsdorff; grandfather, Roger Zuelsdorff; and Uncle Keith Zuelsdorff.
The funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. Thursday, March 8, 2012, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. David Zseto will officiate. Burial will take place in the Veterans Memorial Garden at St. Francis Cemetery, Merrill, with full military honors conducted by both the Wisconsin National Guard and the Merrill V.F.W. Post 1638 Honor Guard. Visitation, with full military honors, will be from 4:00 P.M. until 8:00 P.M. Wednesday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and after 8:30 A.M. Thursday at the church.
