Merrill Area Public School Board to repost superintendent vacancy

The Merrill Area Public School Board announced Thursday night that Ted DiStefano, who had been named the finalist by the board for the MAPS superintendent position, has withdrawn his name from consideration.

The board, which met on Thursday evening, has voted to immediately repost the position.
“While we are disappointed by Dr. DiStefano’s decision, we are no less committed to finding an outstanding leader to serve as the next superintendent of the Merrill Area Public Schools,” said Bill Jaeger, school board president. “The board remains dedicated to continuing the search process.”
In reposting the position, the board still intends to select a new superintendent for the beginning of the 2012-13 school year. Under the contract with the firm the district has engaged to assist with the superintendent search, no extra costs will be incurred.
