Driver injured in Hwy. 8 crash

At approximately 12:23 p.m. Friday, Lincoln County 911 center received several calls of a car v. semi crash at the intersection of Hwy. 8 and County Rd. Y in the town of Bradley.
Per witnesses at the scene, the car struck the semi in the rear axle of the trailer, the semi was westbound on Hwy. 8 at the time. The driver of the car had to be extricated by Tomahawk Fire Department personnel using the jaws of life. She was transported by Tomahawk Ambulance to Sacred Heart Hospital in Tomahawk, then flown to Wausau Aspirus Hospital by Med Evac helicopter.
Members of Nokomis Fire Department, Tomahawk Fire Department, Wisconsin State Patrol and Oneida County Sheriff’s Office all assisted on scene with traffic control. Hwy. 8 had to be shut down for a short period of time until one lane could be opened up.
The crash was still under investigation Friday afternoon.
