Mike, as his friends and family fondly knew him, was born May 20, 1929, in Merrill, son of the late William and Margaret (Utech) Marquardt. He married Carol Jean (Katke) on Sept. 9, 1950. She survives.

He was a member of St. Stephen’s United Church of Christ, Merrill. He enjoyed wintering with his wife of 61 years near his daughter Stacey in sunny Florida, while spending many years in the beautiful Northwoods of Tomahawk near his son Michael and daughter-in-law Diana. He looked forward to the excitement of following Wis. sports every season. Mike was an avid Milwaukee Brewer, Wisconsin Badger and Green Bay Packer fan all his life – holding Green Bay Packer season tickets for years sharing them with many friends and family during and after the famed “Glory Years.”
