Fatal crash on County Rd. K

The Lincoln County Sheriff’s Office continues to investigate a fatal motor vehicle crash that occurred Tuesday in the Town of Scott.
At 2:14 p.m. cell 911 calls reported the crash at the intersection of County Rd K and Park Ave.
According to witness statements, a north bound vehicle being driven by nineteen year old Cynthia M. McGee of Merrill was passing several vehicles when she collided with a northbound farm tractor whose driver was turning west onto Park Ave. The vehicle collided with the empty trailer being towed by the tractor. McGee was trapped in the vehicle after the crash and was extricated by Merrill firefighters. She was then transported by Merrill EMS to Aspirus Wausau Hospital where she later died.
The driver of the tractor, thirty five year old Christopher Lutzewitz of Black Creek, WI was not injured in the crash.
Alcohol is not believed to be a factor; McGee was wearing a seat belt at the time of the crash.
The Wisconsin State Patrol is conducting a reconstruction of the crash scene. The Lincoln County Highway Department, Merrill Police Department, and Wisconsin State Patrol assisted in rerouting traffic on County Rd K which was closed for four hours while Deputies and Troopers investigated the crash.
This is the third traffic fatality in Lincoln County in 2011.
