Arlene Phyllis Polack

Arlene Phyllis Polack, 76, of Merrill, passed away Thursday, Sept. 8, 2011 at Marywood Convalescent Center in Wausau under the care of Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services.
Born Aug. 3, 1935, she was the daughter of the late Herbert and Mildred (Zimmerman) Zimmerman. Arlene married Harold “Joe” Joseph Polack in Merrill on June 18, 1955. He preceded her in death Jan. 12, 1992.
Arlene was a 1953 graduate of Merrill Senior High School. She was a home maker and had worked as a banquet hostess for Les & Jims for over 20 years. Arlene enjoyed bowling, camping, fishing and holiday decorating. She was a member and past president of the Ladies VFW Auxiliary and a member of Trinity Lutheran Church.
Survivors include her children, Jolene (Terry) Fenwick, Merrill, Jody Polack, Merrill, and Janene (David) Polster, Marathon; seven grandchildren, Keahna, Maryssa, Elijah, and Savanah Fenwick and Mike, Amber, and Takala Polster; two great-grandchildren, Seth and Kiearra; brother, Gary (Linda) Zimmerman, Green Bay; and nephew, Brian (Alexis) Zimmerman, Green Bay. She was also preceded in death by her parents.
Services will be held 11:30 a.m. Thursday, Sept. 15, at Waid Funeral Home, Merrill. Rev. Scott Gustafson will officiate. Visitation will be from 10 – 11:30 a.m. before the service on Thursday, Sept. 15, also at Waid Funeral Home. Burial will be in Snow Hill Cemetery. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials which will be donated to cancer research. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
