Jeffery W. ‘Free’ Olson, age 44, of Gleason, died Monday, September 5, 2011, in the Town of Russell, Lincoln County.
Jeff was born September 17, 1966, in Merrill, son of the late Walter and Janice (Baumbach) Olson. He worked as a Union Mason in residential, commercial, and industrial construction. Jeff enjoyed ice fishing and open-water fishing, hunting, paintballing, and mud bogs. He was a true outdoorsman. When Jeff was younger, he enjoyed making awesome snow forts.
Jeff is survived by his life-long love, Tammy Catlin and her daughter, Jo Jo Catlin, both of Gleason; his friend who was more like a brother, Michael (Cindy) Degner, of Gleason; one daughter, Dominique Marie Olson, of Merrill; one sister, Patty (Ron) Birnbaum, of Green Bay; one brother, Bob Olson, of Gleason; his niece and nephew, Trisha and Tom Birnbaum, both of Green Bay; and one great-nephew, Parker Birnbaum, of Green Bay. Jeff was preceded in death by his parents, Walter and Janice Olson.
A memorial service will be held at 11 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at the Gary ‘Otis’ Oldenburg residence on the corner of Town Hall Road and Hwy 17 in Gleason. The family will receive friends beginning at 9 a.m. Saturday, Sept. 17, at Gary’s home. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family with arrangements.
