Eleanor M. Wendt, age 95, went to her heavenly home on Wednesday, August 17, 2011, under the care of her family, Aspirus Comfort Care & Hospice Services, and the staff at Pine Crest Nursing Home, Merrill.
Eleanor was born October 27, 1915, in the Town of Stettin, daughter of the late William and Clara (Erdman) Steidinger. She married Alvin Wendt on April 25, 1936, in the Town of Stettin. He preceded her in death on November 28, 1974. Eleanor and her late husband had dairy farmed in the Town of Hamburg. Upon retirement, Eleanor and Alvin moved to Merrill. She enjoyed making patch work quilts for family members, needle work, and reading the bible. Eleanor also enjoyed spending time with her family and friends.
Survivors include her twin daughters, Doreen (James) Gaeu, and Darleen Klebenow, both of Merrill; six grandchildren, Linda (Rick) Dorn, Pamela (Allen) Fox, Laurie (Mark) Folz, Kris (Bob) Reichelt, Connie Fryman, and Terry (fiancee, Jill Rydell); 17 great grandchildren; and 6 great great grandchildren. Besides her husband, Eleanor is preceded in death by a son in law, Kenneth Klebenow; one granddaughter, Tami Gaeu; two brothers, William and Bernhart Steidinger; and four sisters, Emma Dahlke, Mable, Alma, and Selma Steidinger.
The funeral will be at 1:30 P.M. Saturday, August 20, 2011, at St. John Lutheran Church, Merrill. The Rev. David Szeto will officiate. Burial will be in St. Peter’s Cemetery, Town of Hamburg. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Saturday at the church. The Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, is assisting the family.
