Tornado Victim’s Benefit Jamboree raises $10K for relief fund

The Tornado Victim’s Benefit Jamboree, held Friday at Les & Jim’s, raised over $10,000 for the Merrill Chamber Foundation’s Tornado Relief Fund. The event drew over 500 people, featuring live music from local performers Sundog, Rattlesnake and Eggs, Dave Fox and Foxfire, The Broken Arrow Band, Frontier, Plan B and Geoff Landon. The cover charge at the door and raffles raised over $5,500, a gun raffle and auction raised an additional $2,000. Harley-Davidson employees and union contributed mover $2,000 to the cause as well. Geiss Meat Service and Les & Jim’s donated back their proceeds from the event, totaling $900. Major raffle items were donated by Merrill Walmart (42″ television), Wausau Walmart (Wii system), Church Mutual ($300) and Ron Mittlestead of Faye’s Flowers (rifle). The money raised will be earmarked for uninsured and underinsured homeowners as well as out of pocket expenses for those impacted by the tornado.
