Shirley M. Ament, age 87, of Merrill, died Monday, April 4, 2011, at Bell Tower Residence in Merrill.
Shirley was born September 30, 1923, in Merrill, daughter of the late Arthur and Frances (Smith) Koblitz. She married Lawrence “Bud” Ament on September 27, 1946. He preceded her in death on April 22, 1983, in Merrill. Shirley had been the bookkeeper at St. Francis Catholic Church Rectory, Merrill. She enjoyed crossword puzzles; playing cards; casino trips; taking care of her cats; and spending time with her family, especially her grandchildren.
Shirley is survived by three sons, Greg (Mary) Ament, Andy (Jan) Ament, and Matthew “Charlie” Ament, all of Merrill; six grandchildren, Erik (with Brittney), Carly, Victoria, Todd (with Hsu), Ben (with Kari Jo), and Ryan (with Jodi); seven great grandchildren, Isabell, Chloe, Ellie, Ivan, Mason, Emma, and Evan; one brother, James (Ruth) Koblitz, Merrill; two sisters in law, Ruth Strasman and Joan Rostal, both of Merrill; and one brother in law, Charles “Shorty” (Peg) Ament, Jr., Merrill.
A Private Family Memorial Service will be held.
In lieu of flowers, memorials may be directed to St. Francis Xavier Catholic School, Merrill.
