Gary was born July 26, 1936, the son of the late Earl and Adela (Stevenson) Cottrell, in Irma. On Sept. 7, 1957, he was united in marriage to Delores Fehlhaber. He travelled throughout the country as an electrical installer for Western Electric for 28 years.
He was a stock car racing fan and enjoyed travelling with his family.
At the age of 74, Gary Earl Cottrell, of Wausau, died at his home.
Gary is survived by his wife, Delores; son, Wayne (Renee) Cottrell; 2 grandsons, Garrett and Cale Cottrell; granddaughter, Alicia Cottrell; 3 siblings, Russell (Pat) Cottrell, Earlene (Don) Stefanelli, and Bonnie (Dennis) Krueger; and other family and friends.
Along with his parents, he was predeceased by his 2 sons, Allen and Roger.
A funeral service will be held at 1 p.m., Friday, April 8, at the Helke Funeral Home, Wausau. Visitation will be held from 4 – 8 p.m. Thursday at the funeral home; and again Friday, beginning at noon, until the time of the service.
