John Charles Thompson, 58, of Merrill, passed away Tuesday, March 29, 2011 at Ministry Good Samaritan Health Center, Merrill.
He was born in Winton, MN on July 1, 1952 to the late Thomas and Edna (Becker) Thompson.
John had resided in Minnesota and several southern states during his early years before moving to Tomahawk, WI. He attended the special needs school in the Tomahawk area. John had worked for various businesses in Tomahawk and later had worked for Lincoln Industries in Merrill. John was a member of St. Paul’s Lutheran Church in Tomahawk. In his younger years, John enjoyed swimming, golfing and watching sports.
Survivors include his brother: Guy (Judith) Thompson, Eden Prairie, MN; sister: Nancy (Paul Slota) Thompson, Middleton, WI; step-mother: Sherry Thompson, Tomahawk; step-brothers: Steve Kahle, Tomahawk, and Scott (Amy) Kahle, Hartland, WI; step-sisters: Darla (Jim) Jansen, Sun Prairie, WI, and Janis Southworth, Medford. He was preceded in death by his parents and two sisters: Jamie Kolberg and Mary Fannin.
Services will be held 2:00 PM Saturday, April 2, 2011 at Waid Funeral Home. The Rev. Joel Danner will officiate. Visitation will be from 12 – 2 PM Saturday, also at the funeral home.
