Alice F. Krueger

Alice F. Krueger, 82, of Merrill, died Tuesday, February 22, 2011 at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
She was born January 23, 1929 in Merrill daughter of the late Arthur and Ellen (Norman) Zoellner. She married Herman R. Krueger on December 7, 1957 in Pine City, Minnesota.
During her career Alice was Director of the Foster Grandparent Program at Lincoln Hills School retiring in 1994. She was also managing editor of the Foto News, manager of Quality Print Inc., and the Merrill Hatchery.
Alice was active in the community and state serving on numerous state and national boards and committees. She served as State President of the Wisconsin Federation of Business and Professional Women Inc., and the Wisconsin Trust for Historic Preservation. Alice also served as president of the Merrill Historical Society for 15 years. Alice served on the Board of Directors of the Chamber of Commerce, Our Saviour’s Lutheran Church, and the national board of National Federation of Business and Professional Women. She served on the Merrill Area Public School Board and was editor of Wisconsin Gardening and Wisconsin Business Woman. Alice’s favorite pastimes were gardening, writing, historic preservation and history. She received numerous state and local recognitions including the Merrill Hall of Fame.
Survivors include her husband, Herman R. Krueger; son: Harry Hepp, Merrill; two daughters; Stacy (Ron) Gilson, Schofield, and Tammy (Timothy) Woller, Merrill; four grandchildren: Tasha Becker, Tanya Fox; Brandon Woller and Alec Ross Hepp, all of Merrill; two great-grandchildren; two sisters: Doris (Donald) Paroubek, Wausau, and Joyce (Jerry) Bacher, Merrill; three brothers: Arthur (Barbara) Zoellner, Minocqua, Lyndon (Laurie) Zoellner, Green Bay, Allen Wayne (Ricky) Zoellner, Kingman, Arizona, and many nieces and nephews. She was preceded in death by her parents, 2 daughters; Kristie Krueger and Holly Hepp, and one son, Lee Hepp.
Services will be 11:00 AM Saturday, February 26, 2011 at Waid Funeral Home Chapel. The Rev. Beth Macha will officiate. In lieu of flowers, the family requests memorials be given to the Merrill Historical Society or Pine Crest Nursing Home. Waid Funeral Home is assisting the family with arrangements.
