Norbert E. Faber

Norbert E. Faber, age 93, of Merrill, died Monday, February 7, 2011, at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill.
Norbert was born September 20, 1917, son of the late Peter and Leone (Marschner) Faber. He married Myrtle Fischer on December 11, 1943, in the Town of Goodrich, Taylor County. She preceded him in death on October 21, 2006. Norbert and his wife dairy farmed in the Town of Goodrich for 45 years. Norbert also logged and did custom farm work for his neighbors. Upon retiring from dairy farming in 1980, Norbert and Myrtle moved to Woodruff where they resided until 2004. They then moved to Merrill. Norbert was a longtime member of St. Andrew’s Lutheran Church, Town of Goodrich. Norbert enjoyed deer shining, deer hunting, fishing (especially ice fishing), gardening, and picking berries. He also enjoyed traveling, driving the country roads throughout Wisconsin and Michigan, and visiting relatives. He was fond of his Dodge vehicles. Norbert always loved a good joke.
Survivors include four daughters, Sheryl Faber, of Black Canyon, Arizona, Judith (Don Grant) Faber, of Wasilla, Alaska, Janice Faber, of Anchorage, Alaska, and Yvonne (Mark) Hedges, of Merrill; four sons, Gary (Eileen) Faber, of Anchorage, Alaska, Russell (Karen) Faber, of Merrill, Randall (Barb Willie) Faber, of Colorado, and Nathan Faber, of the Town of Browning; 19 grandchildren; 17 great-grandchildren; one sister, Carol (Elmer) Reimann, of Medford; three brothers, Everett (Marion) Faber, of Medford, Gene Faber, of Medford, and James (Donna) Faber, of Gad; three sisters-in-law, Theresia Faber, of Medford, Rose Faber, of Washington state, and Jacqueline Faber, of Medford; one brother-in-law, Lyle Dahl; and his good friend, Paul Braunstein, of Woodruff. Norbert was preceded in death by two sons, Rodney and Kevin Faber; one granddaughter, Hailey Faber; one sister, Berneta Dahl; four brothers, Peter, Harley, Willard, and Robert Faber; and two sisters-in-law, Betty and Estelle Faber.
A Memorial Service will be held at 1:00 P.M. Thursday, February 10, 2011, at Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill. The Rev. Joseph Dietrich will officiate. Burial will take place this spring in St. Andrew’s Church Cemetery, Town of Goodrich, Taylor County. Visitation will begin at 11:00 A.M. Thursday at Holy Cross Chapel at Bell Tower Residence, Merrill.
