Church Mutual Insurance Company employees in Merrill did their part to brighten the holidays for local children. Employees fulfilled the Christmas wishes of 162 Lincoln County children through the Lincoln County United Christmas Spirit Appeal.
Church Mutual is the largest single contributor to the program which will provide gift for more than 500 children in Lincoln County this Christmas. The United Christmas Spirit Appeal, coordinated by the local conference of St. Vincent De Paul, reaches families in need through churches and schools in Lincoln County.
For each child, a tag is filled out with the child’s age, gender and Christmas wish list. The tags are distributed to various Christmas trees throughout the county. Members of the community can select a tag and purchase presents for that child. Church Mutual had its own tree at the Merrill headquarters for employees to choose a tag.
Project coordinator Frieda Swanson said the response from the community is always overwhelming.
The gifts will be distributed later this week through the Merrill Fire Department, St. Francis Xavier Church and St. Vincent De Paul.
