Doris J. Schweigert, age 81, of Merrill, died Friday, November 26, 2010, at Aspirus Wausau Hospital.
Doris was born December 5, 1928, in Merrill, the only child of the late Herbert and Martha (Leistikow) Woller. She married Harry W. Schweigert on June 21, 1946, in Merrill. He survives. After high school, Doris attended beautician’s school in Chicago. She had previously worked at the former Merrill Candy Company, Merrill Manufacturing, and Marathon Electric. At the time of her retirement, Doris was the supervisor of plant operations, laundry, and housekeeping at the Parklawn Nursing Home, Manitowoc. Doris was a member and past president of the Merrill Eagle’s Auxiliary; was a member of Am Vets Post 2000; the D.A.V. Post 29; and the V.F.W. Auxiliary in Wausau. She enjoyed spending time with members of these organizations, as well as gardening and sewing.
Survivors include her husband, Harry Schweigert, Merrill; two daughters, Lynn Reinke, Neenah, and Kim Schweigert, Manitowoc; two sons, Guy Schweigert, Mosinee, and Todd (Frances) Schweigert, Batavia, Illinois; ten grandchildren; and ten great grandchildren. Doris is preceded in death by one great grandson.
Her funeral will be at 10:00 A.M. Wednesday, December 1, 2010, at St. Stephens United Church of Christ, Merrill. Licensed Lay Minister Missy Holdorf will officiate. Burial will be in Snow Hill Cemetery, Town Scott. Visitation will be from 4:00 P.M. until 7:00 P.M. Tuesday at the Taylor-Stine Funeral Home, Merrill, and after 9:00 A.M. Wednesday at the church.
