THS dunks Hodags

The Hatchet swim team made history by beating Rhinelander for the first time ever in Thursday’s 96-73 dual.

“The Rhinelander team just happened to be swimming their personal bests of their careers, and we were forced to work even harder to beat them,” THS coach Theresa L’Esperance said. “The Koshak sisters had a tremendous night, swimming personal bests in all four events they participated in.”

The Hatchets swept the 100 back with Kelsey Maki (1:14.72), Hannah Schmit (1:17.46) and Sam Schaper (1:21.25), and went 1-3 in the 100 brea with A. Koshak (1:21.65) and B. Koshak (1:25.23). Other 1sts came from: Marlee Kiander (100 fly, 1:11.69); the 200 medley (Maki, A. Koshak, Megan White, Schmit, 2:11.73); the 200 free (A. Koshak, Sami Kleich, White, Kiander, 1:54.38).

Tomahawk went 2-3 in the 50 free (Schmit, :29.19/ Kleich, :29.57) and 100 free (A. Koshak, 1:02.96/ Kleich, 1:05.56).Other runners-up were: Kiander (200 free, 2:06.72); White (200 IM, 2:41.81/ 500 free, 6:34.75); and 400 free (Kleich, Schmit, Maki, Kiander, 4:21.89). Thirds came from: Maki (100 fly, 1:20.54); the 200 medley; and the 400 free.
