Merrill woman pleads not guilty of theft from employer

A Merrill woman pleaded not guilty Tuesday to charges that she embezzled more than $150,000 from her employer between 2005 and 2009.

Gail A. Racino, 46, is charged with one count of theft in a business setting and three counts of being party to the crime of theft. According to court records, Racino was in charge of filling out bank deposits slips for her employer, JW Perry of Merrill. She was terminated following in internal audit in February 2009 that showed $152,329 was missing from the company’s bank deposits since 2005. The deposits were reportedly missing the majority or all of the cash proceeds.

Racino was bound over for trial by Circuit Court Judge Jay Tlusty.
